Happy new year everyone! I wish all of you had great new year celebration. We are now in officially 2018!
If you are reading this blog, you probably set goal (Business, family, financial etc). Setting the goal is absolute critical step in order to get to where you want to be. Just like GPS, GPS may do the job. However, if you don’t know which destination you want to go, you will never get to the destination. In fact, over the new year weekend, my wife and I set goal for 2018 and beyond. We literary sit down for 2 days just explore and adjust our yearly, 3 year, 5 year and 10 year goals…
Last night, I also sat down with my partners and my mentor for going over my business goal (and my partners’). I thought I was setting the goal but one thing that my mentor’s advise hit me with brick. She said…
“How bad you want to achieve that you set for yourself? Many people set goals but setting goal is the easy part. Sticking your goal as well as razor beam focus (Intense focus) on your goal is the other thing.”
I started to realize what she meant… During goal setting, many (Also, myself even) try to set the goal but they know in deep inside of themselves that they put the goal just the sake of declaring the goal. If you set the goal that you don’t really mean and absolutely no plan to focus or follow up, those will become just a number…
For example, we always set the result goal in beginning of the month. Then some people had almost no result last time but still declare the huge goal. Most of those people already know that they can’t attain for not even pursue to achieve the goal but they just say it because everyone else is saying it.
My mentor continues…
“When I set the goal, I will become obsessive. I always think how can I get it, who I can talk to. My mindset is to do whatever it takes to achieve the goal that I set with 100% focus. That’s the reason why I almost always hit my goal. Do you all have that?” (She implies we are not…)
Setting the goal is one thing. However, question is do you really want to achieve the goal that you set for yourself? You may be able to declare whatever the goal that you set but you are the only person who know whatever you declare really mean it or not… It always comes down to how bad you want to achieve your goal and your intense focus AFTER set your goal…
